West Los Angeles, CA (January 24, 2006) - Singer-songwriter Kyler England was at The Village Recording Studios recently laying down tracks for a new EP release with producer/engineer Richard Furch, who was assisted by Jim Monte. England, who is shopping for a label deal, is a past winner of the Unisong, North Carolina, Mid-Atlantic and Windrift songwriting contests and has shared the stage with Sting, Annie Lennox, Avril Lavigne, James Taylor and Melissa Etheridge, among others.
The new tracks are a follow-up to North Carolina native England’s “A Flower Grows in Stone” album, which featured the nationwide radio favorite, “Something So Beautiful.” Recording sessions at The Village included guitarist Ben Butler (Jonathan Brooke, Dar Williams), Eric Holden on bass (The Bodeans, Josh Groban), and Bryan Keeling on drums (Shooter Jennings).
England, a longtime friend of Furch, whom she has described as her favorite producer/engineer, explained why she chose The Village for the sessions: “Some legends as well as heroes of mine have recorded there, including Aerosmith, Tori Amos, Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty, Beck, Pat Benatar, Mariah Carey, The Eurhythmics, Foo Fighters, Aretha Franklin, Peter Gabriel, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, Madonna, and BB King, just to name a small few.”
Founded in 1968 by Geordie Hormel, The Village is a state-of-the-art, full-service recording complex housed in a Masonic Temple built in the roaring Twenties in West Los Angeles. The Village Recorder is famous for landmark sessions by Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, The Rolling Stones, Supertramp and Pink Floyd. The studio is also well known for its film score recording and commercial work.
