mean people suck
do you know how many concerned emails/phone calls i’ve gotten in the last week? they start something like this…”hey sweetie, it’s your Dad. i was trying to figure out when you’re going to be in the area…did you know your website is down?” or “i’ve been a fan for a long time and i notice your website is gone…did you quit the music business?” no, these aren’t the mean people that suck. these are amazing people who noticed my site was down long before i did, which makes me wonder if they’re getting out of the house enough.
no, the mean people who suck are the hackers who have nothing better to do than to wreak havoc on the lives and websites of poor unsuspecting technologically challenged singer-songwriters…namely, me. a hacker or a hacker-bot or whatever recently bushwhacked its way into the server my website was on and erased most of the hard drive that held all the content for my website. sounds pretty bad, huh? well, it is, but all was not lost.
enter Jan Borgersen (www.dekana.com), a dear friend who has been my trusty webmaster, no websuperhero, over the last 7 or so years. Jan had the structure of the site backed up and was able to rebuild the site framework. now i just have to dig up a bunch of the content like journal entries and press articles and hunt down all those cool live photos i had in the gallery. be patient with me as i get this stuff back online.
so, for all of yous who were worried that i’d retired my suitcase and pawned my guitar…poppa didn’t raise no quitter! i’m still at it and am gearing up to hit the road for my spring tour which will take me from Atlanta to Boston to Minneapolis to San Fran. can’t wait to see ya somewhere out there!
