on my elbows from my 3rd and last time roller blading about 2 years ago…my feet went out from under me on a long downhill stretch…i fell flat on my ass, my head even hit the pavement but my elbows took the brunt of it and haven’t been the same since
fave childhood musical memories:
*dancing to MJ’s Thriller on vinyl with my mom and bro and sis after school
*laughing and playing to “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” by John Denver while dad made pancakes and eggs (yuck, i *still* hate eggs!) on sunday mornings…”well i got me ole fife and i got me ole fiddle, sun’s comin’ up i got cakes on the griddle, life ain’t nothin’ but a funny funny riddle, thank god i’m a country boy!”
*playing Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” over and over just to hear that baby cry in the middle
*the torment of listening to Joni Mitchell on repeat for the 5 hour drive from our house to my grandparent’s house at age 6…my ears were not quite ready for Joni yet and boy did i think my mom had bad taste in music! (and my dad too, i mean who were these guys who named their band after an ugly bug?)
*begging dad to get down his trombone and play for us! either that or at least get out his guitar and play “Yellow Submarine”
*sitting on the trunk of the car in the driveway with my bro and sis singing at the top of our lungs a song we made up designed to entice grammy to come visit us…i’ll never forget when she drove up later that day! magic or coincidence? (or maybe a little help from mom?)

i hate not being able to have a 4 legged friend in NYC, i can’t wait to have a pet again one day!
where does that name come from…
“Kyler”…my great grandmother’s maiden name, it’s dutch
“Gypsy Rock Records” my so called record company…from the names of my mom’s two horses, Rocky and Gypsy
“Wooden Spoon Publishing” my so called publishing company…i used to use a wooden spoon as a make-shift microphone while performing for make-believe audiences from my perch on the hearth when i was small, or so i’m told!
